Dear Parents,
Shruthi Class (voice training for bhajans) took place from 2:30 to 3 pm. We used this class to help prepare the kids for singing for Amma in June. Madhavi, Sangee and Saavitri are helping the kids do the three bhajans in a small group format (Dinom Ke Dukh Harta, Guru Charanam and You Mean Everything to Me). All bhajans are on-line. Please try to bring your kids to this class so they can get some one-on-one training.
Mantra Practice took place from 3 to 3:30 pm.
Amulya became a Champion! Congratulations!!
We then did regular the opening prayers and group concentration and
japa, starting at 3:30 pm.
Then the small groups met individually.
1) Younger Group continued its study of various deities and their
symbolism. The group continued its study of Lord Shiva and covered the story of the bringing of Mother Ganga to the earth. The story was used to discuss jealousy (Indra's jealousy of the yagya of Sagara) and how Kapila Muni's anger caused the destruction of the sons of Sagara and how Bhagiratha sacrificed so much for the welfare of his ancestors.

Jan 9th Shruthi Class Update
Jan 11, 2011 by varsha
Dear All,
yesterday's class was very interesting with kids learning more about Shruthi, concentration, and rythm in two speeds.
In the first speed, each beat has one note and in the second speed, each beat has 2 notes, third speed has 4 notes and so on. I would like to attach a doc file in my next mail which consists of the first 10 basic swara patterns. I request you all to get a copy each next time when you attend the class. Kids, we must always remember to pay attention to each note and giving each note to Amma as we sing. I would like to let you know that the whole purpose of this class is not only about Shruthi and Laya, but also your love and zeal to learn music and hence nuture your devotion.
until next class, please keeping humming your sa re ga mas.
